A Brief History
Formed on September 27, 1928, TCDWC is the oldest grassroots club of its kind in Tarrant County. Originally named the Tarrant County Women’s Democratic Club, the club's first meeting was heralded in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram with the headline, ”Party Women Organize For Campaign."
Like many organizations of a certain age, TCDWC has evolved over the 20th century. The club's first order of business was to organize Democratic women in Tarrant County to support 1928 presidential candidate Al Smith. Since then, we’ve become a key partner with the Tarrant County Democratic Party, and a charter member of the Texas Democratic Women and National Federation of Democratic Women organizations.
TCDWC is a PAC (political action committee) raising funds for Democratic women candidates running for office in Tarrant County and Texas. These offices include the Texas House and Senate districts in Tarrant County as well as the US House of Representative districts. Justices of the Peace and State Board of Education candidates also qualify for our support.
